Thank You

Flattr this!

Thanks for supporting my research. Originally I replied to every donor, but given my workload, this became prohibitively time consuming–hence this page instead.

Depending on the amount raised, the uses to which the funds will be put (in descending order of cost) are:

  • Funding time off from my teaching responsibilities at UWS so that I can work full-time on my models of financial instability and the book Finance and Economic Breakdown for Edward Elgar Publishers;
  • Funding travel costs to Trondheim Norway to work on model development with the systems engineer Trond Andresen at the Norwegian University of Technology. I always seem to do my best work when debating and working with Trond.
  • Purchasing a powerful 1920x1200 pixel, 17-inch screen laptop to enable research while in Norway. At home and work in Sydney, I use a powerful desktop with a 2560x1600 pixel 30 inch Dell monitor that is ideal for the large scale systems engineering and differential equation systems with which I model financial instability (see screenshot extract below), while my laptop is a small netbook for presentation-giving purposes only.

To date (September 2009) the plug in has raised approximately A$7,500, about $500 of which has been for Michael Hudson’s talk in Sydney (which I will podcast). I have recently purchased the last item on the list above, which will enable me to do some serious work extending my modelling and writing Finance and Economic Breakdown while in Norway this December and January.

Once the blog reaches about 2,000 members (there are about 1850 now) I will put out an appeal for funds to see whether enough can be raised for the most important item above–paying for the time that will be needed to properly develop my models and write my book on the financial crisis.

Thank you again for your help, and do consider signing up to the blog.

(Obviously, there’s more to this model, both above and below this extract!)

A similar model, this time in Vissim:
