Steve Keen is a globally recognized economist based at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. His writings on the mechanics and dangers of debt-fueled economic growth have influenced regulators, financial market participants, and progressive activists alike. In 2010 Keen won the Revere Award, awarded by the Real-World Economics Association to the world economist who most accurately predicted the 2008-09 global financial crisis. His book Debunking Economics (Zed Books, 2011) provides a full critique of the faulty assumptions and methods of neoclassical economics; it is used as a textbook in universities around the world. Keen is currently a visiting scholar at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences.
